When you read an article in the local newspaper about a family left homeless because of a fire, do you wonder what the writer means when they say "the Red Cross is assisting." To the famly it means everything, a warm place to stay, food and clothing, referrals to agencies who can provide additional help and even grief counseling. It means a warm embrace in the middle of a cold night, a face with a smile and an ear for listening. Every time you purchase a product from the American Red Cross, be that a first aid kit or a Health and Safety class like CPR, that money goes to help families during disaster. Those difficult times don't always make the front page, but house fires, local flooding and severe weather issues are the leading causes of the need for our help............everyday. Which means we need your help...................everyday. When you choose ways to help your community, your country and those less fortunate around the world, we know that you make a conscious decision to give of yourself and we are grateful when you choose us as your beneficiary. When you choose to donate blood you are having a life saving impact on countless folks you will never know. When you choose to volunteer with us, you take a learning journey that results in giving help to people you may already know, or will meet for the first time. You'll take some training to get ready to be a Red Cross volunteer, you'll learn a new skill or two, valuable assets at any time of life. When you make a financial contribution to the American Red Cross you are choosing to see that money in action, buying blankets, food and clothing, providing life saving measles vaccine and sponsoring swimming lessons to kids who otherwise might grow up never having learned to swim. No matter how you choose to make a difference in this world we invite you to help us help, to understand what it means to say "the Red Cross is assisting." Thank you.
The SUN Area Chapter of the American
Red Cross is a proud member agency.

"The American Red Cross will not sell, trade, or share personal information
about our financial donors with anyone else, nor will we send mailings to our
financial donors on behalf of other organizations, unless a donor has given
us specific permission to do so."
The American Red Cross chapters of Sunbury,
Upper Northumberland, Union and Snyder
Counties have joined to better serve
our communities. Efffective July 1, 2011 our
four chapters combined to become the
SUN Area Chapter. We have always served
together, we have always shared resources
and been sisters in service during good times
and during disasters. Now we can increase
efficiency, expand services and allow our
volunteers a greater variety of service in a
larger area. Rest assured that programs and
services will not only continue, but they will
in fact improve. We are excited about the
opportunities that lie head, and the
challenges we face together to continue to
provide First Aid, CPR, & AED training to
more than 10,000 people per year, to be on
the scene of every flood, fire or other calamity
and to collect more than 12,000 units of life
saving blood. We are .................Red Cross
ready, every day.
